MYTHICAL ENTERTAINMENT
In the summer of 2024, I fulfilled a long-time dream of working as a Design Intern at Mythical Entertainment in Burbank, CA. Mythical is an entertainment company and lifestyle brand founded by life-long friends Rhett & Link, who began their career creating wildly popular comedic songs, surreal sketches, and low-budget local commercials. With programming 7 days a week, their combined YouTube channels have over 75 million subscribers and 25 billion total views.
During my internship, I worked closely with both the video production and e-commerce teams. I assisted Video Graphics designers in the ideation and execution of graphic needs for video content, such as on-screen graphics, props, and thumbnails for their Youtube channels. I also assisted the Merch & Marketing designers in the ideation and execution of graphic needs for e-commerce offerings (the Mythical Store), including the editing and design of social posts, homepage banners, product images, and e-blasts.
Currently, I am working with Mythical in a remote capacity as a graphic design freelancer.
VIDEO GRAPHICS:
THUMBNAILS
One of my main tasks at Mythical was the creation of compelling, clickable thumbnails for Mythical's many Youtube channels, including Good Mythical Morning, Good Mythical More, and Mythical Kitchen. I first edited and cut out photography assets, then designed a thumbnail based on notes given to me by that episode's producer.
Methods used: Adobe Photoshop
VIDEO GRAPHICS: on-camera props
My favorite job at Mythical was designing physical props to be used on camera during the show. I was responsible for designing several props within the sizing and visual guidelines given to me by producers. I would then send these files to the Art Department to be printed and turned into a physical objects that Rhett and Link could interact with.

E-COMMERCE: Merchandise
I was also responsible for designing merch assets for a variety of new product releases at the Mythical Store. For each product, I created graphics for social media, mobile and desktop banners, e-blast, and product images. I was first given a set of raw model photos to edit and cut out. I then used the edited and cut out model photos, as well as product images, to create each asset within the guidelines of the existing product branding. In some circumstances, I also created an animated gif to display different variations or effects of the product.
